Russia Moves to Seize Assets of Alleged International Satanists
Russia, a founding member of BRICS, has escalated its crackdown on what it terms the 'international Satanism movement.' President Vladimir Putin's administration has authorized the freezing and seizure of assets belonging to alleged members, even without criminal convictions. Rosfinmonitoring, Russia's financial watchdog, added the group to its list of 'terrorists and extremists' on Friday.
The MOVE follows months of lobbying by Russian authorities, who claim the movement is tied to 'radical nationalism and neo-Nazism.' In July, the Supreme Court declared it extremist, citing accusations of church desecrations and hate propagation. The prosecutor general's office asserts Satanism encompasses any ideology venerating the Abrahamic figure of Satan.
